Telematics generally refers to the interface of computers, communication, and performance.
The ability of musicians to perform live together despite geographical separation is of particular interest to me. Since 2007 I’ve been intensely exploring this area as a result of my access to high speed and high bandwidth internet through the support of the University of California, San Diego, Center for Research Computing and the Arts (CRCA), and California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technnology (Caliit2.) Most importantly is the collaborative energy generated through my community of friends, colleagues, and students who’ve spent countless hours developing and exploring the various potentials of this medium. Below are select clips and writings.
