Three long time masters of the improvised music-world team up here for unpredictable but always inspiring forays into the world of creative music. The trio first performed as a unit once in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Performing entirely improvised music, Jones Jones’ group-sound draws on all the individual musicians’ past experiences, and that somehow adds up, not necessarily to “more than the sum of the parts,” but definitely to something unique and very special that could only have happened within this particular trio configuration. The band performed in Moscow in 2009 during the Moscow Biennale, and the year before in June/July 2008 in Amsterdam and St Petersburg, plus festivals in Lithuania and Latvia. Jones Jones also was featured at The 2009 Festival Of New American Music in Sacramento, California. A first CD release, the music taken from live recordings in St. Petersburg and Amsterdam concerts, is called “We All Feel the Same Way,” and was released by the Moscow label “SoLyd Records” in September 2009. CD #2, “The Moscow Improvisations” recorded in 2010, will be released on the Krakow label “Not Two” in May 2016.
